Every car is designed with a suitable engine that runs well and provides the car with the power that it needs. car engines basically use fuel oil such as diesel or Super, in order to generate power which then drives the car. An engine contains compartments known as combustion chambers. This is where combustion takes place. There are pistons that move up and down these chambers during the combustion process. The pistons move up and down and drive the cams attached to cam shafts. The cam shaft then generates the rotary motion which drives the car and propels it forward or backwards.
Due to the hard work performed by the engine, it generates plenty of heat. Temperatures in the engine rise up to really high levels. These temperatures need to be cooled and kept down. This is achieved in two ways. One is via cooling provided by the radiator and the other is by using oils as lubricants. The radiator sends cool water to the engine and keeps it cool as it runs. The lubricant absorbs most of the heat generated and in return cools the engine.
When these conditions are not well managed the car engine will experience trouble. When a car engine overheats, it will stop and will not function. It is important to always check the oil in the engine and the water level in the carburetor otherwise the car will break down while on the highway. The radiator needs coolant which circulates around the engine and absorbs the heat. Regular refills of the coolant to the radiator and engine oil to the engine will ensure the engine is regularly kept cool while running.
A car engine needs regular service. This service needs to be performed by a mechanic or auto technician. The purpose of the service is to replace worn out parts, drain out the dirty oils and clean the entire engine. During the service, the gaskets, seal rings and seals will be replaced. An engine that has been properly services will be able to run properly again as efficiently and as effectively as possible. When service is not performed on an engine, its efficiency will reduce and it will consume a lot of fuel while delivering very little power. It will also smoke a lot, indicating a need to be serviced.
The engine body may also get damaged or it may get cracks due to the operating conditions it is constantly subjected to. There is constant high heat within the engine which may then result in cracks or deformities. If these are minor and caught early, some remedial action may be undertaken to save the engine, otherwise the engine may no longer be able to run as it is supposed to.
